The Durham Showcase 2019: Durham: 22rd March and London: 28th March
Established in 2015, The Durham Showcase celebrates the talents of our performers and creatives in front of a wider, professional audience.
Established in 2015, The Durham Showcase is produced and performed by Durham University's most talented students. The showcase provides graduates with the opportunity to perform to a wider, professional audience.
This year’s troupe of 10 performers was selected by 3 external industry professionals through open auditions. After graduating, many Durham students go on to receive agency representation; work professionally in TV, film, and theatre; and pursue further training at drama schools including LAMDA, RAM, and Bristol Old Vic.
This year's troupe of actors will perform the showcase on 22nd March in Durham before transferring to The Tristan Bates Theatre in London on the 28th March.
Durham Student Theatre (DST) is one of the largest and most successful university theatre societies in the UK, with more than 700 members staging over 100 productions each year. DST supports its 27 theatre companies, who are responsible for award-winning plays and musicals at both the National Student Drama Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
DST runs its own theatre, The Assembly Rooms Theatre, and provides theatre companies with box office staff, props, costumes, set, make-up, advice as well as technical expertise and equipment. Each February DST hosts the Durham Drama Festival, a week-long celebration of original theatre, written and performed by students and adjudicated by a panel of industry professionals. DST offers a unique opportunity for students to be involved in all aspects of theatre, whether it be performing, working backstage with the technical team, designing sets and costumes or even producing and directing.
